Dr. Bhakta was running the Urgent Care Clinic at USC County and she saw a vast number of children with autistic symptoms. This sparked her interest in the causes of autism and she joined the Defeat Austim Now organization. Her interest in finding the causes of Autism and the underlying inflammatory triggers led her to the ILADS organization. She did a preceptor-ship with Dr. Charles Ray Jones, the “Pope of Pediatric Lyme” in Connecticut.
She treats PANDAS, CFIDS, Lyme Disease, Fibromyalgia and auto- immune disorders.
She is currently working with the UC Irvine Micro Biology Department ( Molecular Mimicry) researching PANDAS and other auto-immune disorders and the genetic, environmental, and pathogenic impact on these chronic conditions.
Her involvement with the clinical studies of both the XMRV at UC Irvine and the new Lyme culture test from Dr. Burrascano makes her one of the most cutting edge physicians in the nation on these conditions.
